Priyanka Chopra emerged as a global star after working in multiple exciting projects in Hindi and Hollywood. She became the first South Asian to lead the American thriller series Quantico.
However, that journey was not easy for her to reach Hollywood in less time. In a recent conversation, Priyanka’s manager Anjula Acharia shared the struggle behind the actress’ stardom.
“People told me I was stupid when I bought Priyanka. Everyone was like, ‘You can’t break a brown Bollywood star in America. I went to Jimmy (the cofounder of Interscope Records) because we had signed her together through a label deal at Interscope. I was having one of my insecure moments. There weren’t very many, and I was like, ‘Jimmy, people are saying that I’m crazy,’ and he goes, ‘Do you know everyone thought I was crazy when I wanted to launch a white rapper whose name was Eminem.’” she said during the conversation on a TV show.
Priyanka Chopra’s journey to Hollywood is unexpected, and no one ever intended that she would become a big star in English in such a short time. Anjula went on to praise the humility of Priyanka Chopra.
“She was so fabulous. She has no ego. Priyanka has actually taught a lot of humility. There have been a lot of times where I have been like,” she said.
Currently, Priyanka Chopra is busy with her next Hollywood film The Bluff while also busy with her Indian film Varanasi.
