Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of the top-most celebrated filmmakers of Indian cinema. His achievements are huge enough that he has inspired a generation to take up filmmaking. Now, he will present a special tableau, celebrating Indian cinema, on the occasion of Republic Day this year.
Usually, for every Republic Day, there will be several events that will celebrate Indian cinema and this time, Bhansali will be doing the honours by presenting a tableau. The event will happen on January 26 at Kartavya Path. Bhansali scripts history as this is happening for the first time ever.
Bhansali is the first Indian film director to represent Indian cinema at the nation’s most prestigious ceremonial event. Bhansali will be the flag-bearer of Indian cinema at the Republic Day Parade. He truly deserves the honour, and it will be a special moment for all his fans and associates.
While most netizens have welcomed the decision and praised Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the honour, some opined that it might have been even better if the ministry had considered a group of legendary filmmakers from across industries.
A section of film lovers pointed out that directors like SS Rajamouli, who took Indian cinema to the global stage, could also have been part of such a celebration. However, many also noted that there may be specific government protocols and planning guidelines involved in finalising the Republic Day tableau.
