Legendary filmmaker Singeetam Srinivas is best known to audiences as a torchbearer for directing pathbreaking movies during his heydays. He was the pioneer behind the first silent film Pushpaka Vimanam and the first time travel movie Aditya 369.
Despite keeping himself away from direction for quite some time now due to age factor, Singeetam Srinivas continues to stay connected with the film industry by appearing in cameo roles in films occasionally. He also lent some creative ideas to young director Nag Ashwin while making Kalki 2898AD.
The creative auteur, who is aged 94 years, is now returning to wield the megaphone for an interesting project which will feature new comers. The untitled film, which is billed as SSR61, has been announced and it will be bankrolled by Vyjayanthi Movies. While Nag Ashwin will supervise the film, Devi Sri Prasad is going to render the soundtrack.
The makers have unveiled a one minute thirty second announcement video which aptly summarises the greatness and the unparalleled legacy of the genius filmmaker who dished out numerous classical blockbusters throughout his career.
The brief video has references of some memorable scenes from his iconic films and compliments from noted celebrities who praised the director to the sky for his never ending thirst to make unique films.
Donning director’s hat at the age of 94 is itself a remarkable feat. Vyjayanthi Movies has projected SSR 61 as his most ambitious film ever. The title and additional details will be out very soon. Previously, there were reports that Singeetam Srinivas will helm the sequel to Aditya 369. However, the project didn’t take off beyond discussion stages.
