Bollywood woke up to a shocking incident on today morning as unidentified persons opened firing outside the residence of popular director Rohit Shetty late in the intervening night on Saturday and Sunday, triggering a sense of unease within the film fraternity.
As per reports, four to five rounds of shots were fired near the filmmaker’s building in Juhu area of Mumbai City. No injuries were reported in this incident. After the firing took place, security agencies deployed outside the house immediately alerted the city police.
A team of personnel including senior officers from both civil and crime branch reached the location and took stock of the situation.
Mumbai Police commisioner Deven Bharti confirmed the incident to the media and informed that a probe has been launched to find the assailants. The motive behind the attack is not yet known and it is not clear whether Rohit Shetty was present at his home or not.
Security has been beefed up at the residence and a forensic science team has also arrived to collect evidence. The firing comes amid concerns over Bollywood personalities being targeted by fringe groups. Previously, a similar incident took place outside Salman Khan’s residence in 2024.
