Until four years ago, Rishab Shetty was largely unknown to film audiences outside Karnataka. Although he had made a mark as both a director and actor with a few good films, his work was mostly limited to the Kannada audience.
However, everything changed in 2022 with Kantara, a film he directed and starred in. After creating a massive sensation in Kannada for two weeks, the film was dubbed into Telugu, Hindi and Tamil and received an overwhelming response in all languages. This brought Rishab Shetty strong pan India recognition.
The success story continued with Kantara Chapter 1, which was released during Dasara last year. The film turned out to be an even bigger hit and reportedly collected massive 800 crore at the global box office. With this, Rishab Shetty’s name echoed across the country and his market expanded significantly. After Kantara, Rishab also gained notable popularity in the North belt, which is a rare achievement for a South Indian actor.
Rishab is now gearing up to take his new projects onto the floors. He is set to act in Jai Hanuman in Telugu and is also committed to a big budget film under the Sithara Entertainments banner. In addition, he is expected to play lead role in a Hindi film based on Chhatrapati Shivaji.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Rishab Shetty is demanding a remuneration of around 80 crore rupees per film. After the phenomenal success of Kantara Chapter 1, he is reportedly not willing to compromise on his pay and is asking remuneration that matches his expanded market.
His upcoming films are expected to generate strong buzz once they officially go on floors. After completing these commitments, there is also a possibility that Rishab may return to the Kantara franchise with a new film.
