An Interesting Three-Way Clash This Valentine’s Week

Tollywood started 2026 on a blockbuster note with Sankranti season turning out to highly profitable for trade circles as four out of the five releases emerged as clean hits. While Chiranjeevi’s MSG shattered numerous records, other films managed to secure impressive revenues despite heavy competition. 

Post Sankranti festival, it has been a dull phase at the box office so far as none of the recent films able to create any noticeable impact on moviegoers. Even though a flurry of films hit the screens last Friday, trade circles are completely disappointed due to the lukewarm response at the ticket windows.

Now, all eyes are on the upcoming Valentine’s Day weekend as it will witness an interesting clash between three notable films, which started creating good waves lately after a promising promotional campaign. 

Among all three releases, Vishwak Sen’s Funky will get a headstart because the fun-filled romantic entertainer evoked a strong buzz after the rib-tickling trailer struck a chord with audiences, thanks to the humourous dialogues. Director Anudeep’s trademark comedy is likely to be the biggest asset for the film. 

Another film which has the potential to resonate with the target audiences during the Valentine’s Day weekend is Santosh Sobhan’s Couple Friendly, a youthful drama which revolves around live-in relationships. The film got ‘A’ certificate from censor but garnered significant attention of youth because of the refreshing pair led by Santosh Sobhan and Manasa Varanasi. 

Veteran actor Arjun Sarja is making a comeback with an interesting feel good movie Seetha Payanam. Besides donning director’s hat, Arjun played a cameo in this film which marks debut of her daughter Aishwarya Sarja. The intriguing trailer and the presence of well known stars like Prakash Raj and Sathyaraj have created a good hype on the film.

It would be interesting to see which among these films gain upper hand at the box office and capitalise on the valentine’s day weekend.
