In a surprising last-minute twist, Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani has taken a bold route. The makers, who initially locked February 12 for a direct OTT release on ETV Win, have now reportedly cancelled those plans and decided to release the film in theatres on March 6.
This sudden shift has caught everyone’s attention in the trade circles. What makes this move even more interesting is that the film was primarily made keeping the OTT audience in mind. From its narrative style to its technical packaging, everything was reportedly designed for a digital premiere.
However, the team now feels the content has the potential to attract theatrical crowds as well. This daring decision is being seen as an experiment of sorts. Sivaji, who has been making smart career choices lately also produces the films and his decision to release the film in theaters despite the project not having noted stars is a big risk.
Yesteryear actress Laya played the female lead in this film. The combination of Sivaji and Laya itself has created decent buzz but will the audience come to see them on the big screen is the big question.
If this strategy works and the film manages to pull audiences to theatres despite being ready for OTT, it could open doors for a new trend in Tollywood. Let’s see what happens.
