Aura of Ustaad: How’s the ‘Cult’ Tribute Song?

The much-anticipated track Aura of Ustaad from Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh was unveiled today amid massive fan celebrations. Composed by Devi Sri Prasad, the song appears to be a full-fledged tribute to Pawan Kalyan, packed with elevation-filled lyrics and trademark mannerisms that fans adore. 

Director Harish Shankar, known to be a huge admirer of Pawan Kalyan, has designed the track as a cult-style homage. However, despite the electrifying launch and sky-high expectations, the initial response has been slightly mixed and that can be seen from messages being posted on social media.

While hardcore fans are celebrating the mass elements, a section of listeners feels the lyrics sound somewhat routine and predictable. Many were perhaps expecting something more experimental or musically distinct from DSP, who has given hits for Pawan in the past.

It is worth noting that the film’s first single, Dekh Lenge Saala, turned into an instant chartbuster and set a high benchmark. Comparisons are inevitable, and whether Aura of Ustaad can achieve similar popularity remains to be seen.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh stars Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna as the female leads. The commercial action-packed social drama is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on March 26 worldwide, with expectations riding high all over.
