Popular Actor-Director Playing Key Role in Rajini’s Film?

Kollywood circles are abuzz with several updates regarding Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming projects. One such interesting news that has been making rounds for some time now is that talented Malayalam actor-director Basil Joseph may essay a significant role in one of his films. 

Now, the latest reports suggest that Basil Joseph is likely to join #Thalaivar173( working title) to play a pivotal character as Rajinikanth’s son in this family cum action drama which will be steered by director Cibi Chakravarthy. It is heard that Basil has been onboarded by the makers as the team gears up to commence the shooting formalities in Summer this year. 

Earlier, there were reports that Basil Joseph will join the highly anticipated multi-starrer of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan under the direction of Nelson Dilip Kumar to play a prominent role. However, it is now reported that Basil will be sharing screen with Rajinikanth in his 173rd film which will be bankrolled by Kamal Haasan’s home banner Raaj Kamal Films International. 

Besides Basil Joseph, the team is also in talks with Priyanka Arul Mohan for an interesting role in this big-budget entertainer. Though it is unclear whether Priyanka will be appearing as the female lead or not, there are strong chances that she will sign the dotted line very soon. 

Basil Joseph has earned plaudits with his subtle acting mettle in several Malayalam films. He recently appeared in Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi in a cameo role. With Thalaivar 173, the Malayalam actor would be aiming to foray into Kollywood and expand his popularity.
