Not long ago, Mega fans faced acute public backlash for creating utter nuisance at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad when actor Ram Charan and his wife Upasana welcomed baby twins. There was huge chaos at the hospital as massive number of fans gathered after the news was divulged by the actor’s PR teams.
Now, another similar situation unfolded this Sunday at KIMS hospital Bengaluru as pan-India actor NTR attended an inauguration event today morning. As NTR’s personal team officialy revealed that the actor would be visiting the hospital at a particular time, thousands of admirers gathered outside the hospital to catch a glimpse of him and also to cheer his presence.
As soon as NTR reached the venue from airport, crowd went berserk due to which the the entire situation turned worse as the security forces failed to control them. At one point, the hospital premises were fully packed with fans and this led to a chaotic situation and even resulted in damage of property as live visuals showed that an escalator was broken due to excessive pressure.
The entire episode has once again sparked concern among general public and triggered widespread criticism from all quarters as nothing changed much since the previous incident which underscored the need for a more responsible behaviour and better civic sense from fans during such events.
Luckily, in both these recent incidents, no one was seriously injured. But, there were so many instances in the past which led to stampede like situations and also resulted in loss of lives. Still, there are hardly any lessons learnt because similar fan frenzy gatherings continue to take place whenever actors come out in public.
When fans are unable to control their enthusiasm and adulation out of excitement to see their favourite actors as they get such encounters once in a while, it is understandable to some extent. But, why can’t heroes step in to end this unnecessary crowd gatherings which create ruckus and inconvenience to the public.
Whenever star heroes goes out to attend a public events, it is their respective PR teams which officially circulate the news with exact location and timings. Due to this prior information, fans assemble in big numbers at the location and the entire purpose solely turns out be an exercise for show of strength rather than love towards the actors.
Every Tollywood top-league actor commands massive fanbase at present and there is no denying this fact. Whenever their films hit the screens, supporters come out to watch them on big screen. At the end of the day, the overall box office result depends on how well common audiences receive the films.
Coming to public gatherings, large turnout of crowd is acceptable for pre release events because adequate security measures will be taken due to prior planning and as they are conducted in open venues. But, when actors attend events in closed spaces and sensitive areas, controlling crowd becomes absolutely challenging due to lack of proper assesment. This might result in untoward incidents or mishaps not just to fans but also to general public.
In both the recent situations, big crowds could have been easily avoided had the news about actors’ visits were kept under the wraps until the last minute. But, the teams chose not to remain silent and broke the news on social media platforms.
There is absolutely no necessary for any actor to prove his stardom. But, what is necessary is that actors should be cautious and fans should act with more responsibility. One small mistake can cause irreparable loss if any lives are lost due to these mass gatherings which can easily be avoided.
