RGV Returning to the Sarkar Universe with the Bachchan Duo?

Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma was once considered a trendsetter among Bollywood audiences because of the solid impact created by his movies in the early 90s. He delivered numerous blockbusters in Bollywood and Amitabh Bachchan’s political crime thriller Sarkar was one of his best works when he was operating in prime form. 

Despite the fact that the next installments of Sarkar didn’t find much appreciation from moviegoers and failed commercially at the box office, RGV seems to be still optimistic on reviving the franchise with another sequel by retaining the same leading cast, but with a different story. 

As per the latest reports, the shooting formalities of Sarkar 4 are set to kick start on April 25th. The fourth installment will see the return of father-son duo Amithabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. The third part of this gritty political drama released way back in 2017 and failed to live up to the expectations. 

Sources revealed that Sarkar 4 will not be an extension of the political universe created by RGV in the previous three parts, but will be a new story set in a new backdrop. 

The Sarkar franchise has always piqued the curiosity of moviegoers because the first part, which released in 2005, witnessed powerful performances from the lead actors with gripping narrative and RGV’s trademark screenplay.

Due to the strong box office success, the universe was extended further by developing the remaining characters in the plot. However, the sequels failed to impress the viewers. 

When the last instalment was outrightly rejected, critics and moviegoers believed that it was the end card for the franchise as RGV appeared to have lost his Midas touch with back-to-back failures. But, RGV seems to be determined to make a strong comeback in Bollywood with this surprising attempt. 

It would be interesting to see if he can really bring back his mojo and prove everyone wrong by delivering a proper box office hit which has been evading him since many years.
