Bollywood, which is riding high on the successes of Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is now coming up with yet another film based on nationalism. T-Series’ head Bhushan Kumar announced his new project, Operation Sindoor, with director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri of The Kashmir Files fame.
However, despite being made on one of the hot topics, the film’s announcement has drawn mixed responses from the audience. Many viewers criticised the move to sign Vivek for the film. They opined that someone like Aditya Dhar would have done justice to such a potential story.
Even though Vivek scored a hit with The Kashmir Files, many people felt that the story was too over-the-top and melodramatic. His next films, The Vaccine War and The Bengal Files, turned out to be box-office duds. They were criticised for poor storytelling and lethargic direction. Thus, many people on social media opined that Vivek would make Operation Sindoor a more melodramatic film rather than a well-made venture like Dhurandhar. Netizens were also upset with the fact that Vivek didn’t appreciate Aditya Dhar or Dhurandhar for their success. They lashed out at him for the same.
It was announced that the book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan, which was written by retired Lt Gen KJS ‘Tiny’ Dhillon, serves as the basis. Operation Sindoor was an Indian military operation carried out in response to a Pakistani terrorist attack at Pahalgam in 2025.
It remains to be seen if Vivek gives a befitting reply to all the criticism with this film. More details of the movie are expected to be announced in the coming days.
