Casting director Mukesh Chhabra has sparked fresh curiosity around Dhurandhar with his latest revelation about the casting process. In a recent interaction, he shared that three actors had rejected the role of Rehman Dakait, which was eventually played by Akshaye Khanna.
Interestingly, Mukesh revealed that one of those actors was from the South, while the other two were from Bollywood. He refrained from naming them but mentioned that the actors cited weird logic, saying the film had an ensemble cast and that it was primarily a Ranveer Singh film.
This has now triggered speculation about the identity of the South actor who passed on what is being called a lifetime opportunity. Several names are doing the rounds on social media, with some reports earlier hinting that Nagarjuna Akkineni was approached for the role. However, there has been no reliable confirmation to support this claim.
Industry insiders believe the role required a strong, layered performer, which eventually worked in Akshaye Khanna’s favor. While the mystery remains unsolved, the revelation has only added to the buzz around Dhurandhar, making fans even more curious about the film and its casting choices.
