Vignesh Shivan has finally opened up about his much-discussed rift with Dhanush, calling it an unfortunate and inexplicable situation. In a recent interaction, the filmmaker described the fallout as his biggest loss, adding that losing someone who was once on good terms is truly painful.
“If you lose someone who is on good terms with you, it is a shame. There has been a mistake at some place,” he said.
Despite the differences, Vignesh expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Dhanush, crediting him for playing a key role in his career growth. He admitted that he wouldn’t be where he is today without their collaborations.
The director also fondly recalled working with Dhanush for nearly two and a half years on Velaiyilla Pattathari, directed by Velraj. He highlighted how that phase shaped his journey in the industry.
While the rift remains unresolved, Vignesh’s words reflect both regret and respect, indicating that despite the fallout, the bond they once shared still holds significance. Vignesh is ready with his new film LIK featuring Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty as leads. The film releases on April 10th, 2026.
