The much-anticipated re-release of Race Gurram in 4K is turning out to be a mixed affair, especially in the USA. Starring Allu Arjun, the film was expected to set new benchmarks in the re-release trend, given its blockbuster status in Telugu cinema.
However, early advance sales are raising concerns. The film has seen only a modest turnout across its initial shows in multiple locations. While it has managed to attract some audience, the real test lies ahead, as it still needs a significant boost just to cover the screening costs. But here in telugu states, the advance sales doing well which a positive sign.
Trade circles are already calling it a tough release overseas, as expectations were significantly higher for such a popular commercial entertainer. The situation in India is slightly better, but advance bookings there have only been decent, not extraordinary.
Given the strong fan base and nostalgia factor associated with Race Gurram, there is still hope that the film might pick up momentum after release.
Weekend walk-ins and word of mouth could play a crucial role in determining its final box office outcome. For now, what was expected to be a record-breaking re-release is struggling to find its footing.
