Indian‑Origin Doctor to Pay $14M for Fake Tests in Georgia

An Indian‑origin urologist, Dr. Jitesh Patel, will pay a $14 million settlement after whistleblowers alleged his Georgia clinic conducted medically unnecessary procedures and billed for tests and treatments not performed to defraud US healthcare programs. Federal probes found the practice was structured to boost revenue, though no formal liability has been determined.
