Why Senior Writer Slams Tollywood Costs, Lauds Dhurandhar?

Tollywood Noted writer BVS Ravi has sparked a debate with his sharp observations on the current state of Tollywood, drawing comparisons with the ambitious project Dhurandhar.

Sharing his views, Ravi remarked, “Dhurandhar is the beginning of the end for regular producers. They shot eight hours of footage with ₹260 crores, while our producers need ₹500 crores to make a single film.”

He further pointed out that one of the key reasons behind this disparity is the lack of proper planning in Telugu cinema. Even though Ravi didn’t directly comment on star salaries, industry analysts say it’s an open secret that remunerations often dominate budgets, leaving less room for production quality and technical finesse.

In contrast, Dhurandhar reportedly maintained reasonable remuneration despite being mounted on a massive scale, allowing the makers to focus more on content and execution.

His comments underscore a growing concern in the industry, the lack of proper planning is impacting overall film quality. While Ravi didn’t directly blame star salaries, it’s widely acknowledged that high remunerations often eat into budgets, sparking discussions on the need for a more balanced, content-driven approach in Tollywood.
