Uncertainty continues to surround Thalaivar 173, as the much-awaited next project of Rajinikanth finds itself stuck in a cycle of directorial changes. What initially looked like a straightforward collaboration has now turned into one of the most talked-about developments in Kollywood.
The film was first entrusted to Sundar C, but he reportedly stepped away following creative differences and script revisions. Soon after, Cibi Chakravarthi was officially announced as the director, raising expectations among fans.
However, the latest reports indicate that he too has exited the project, adding to the growing uncertainty. Now, Ashwath Marimuthu has emerged as the frontrunner to take over the film. While there is no official confirmation yet, the constant reshuffling has sparked confusion and concern among fans.
Interestingly, the film is said to be backed by Kamal Haasan’s production banner, making the stakes even higher. Adding to the superstar’s challenges is the ongoing chatter around Jailer 2, which is already facing criticism for its rumored cameo.
For a superstar like Rajinikanth, these unexpected hurdles have certainly become a talking point across the industry. With one project dealing with creative clutter and the other struggling to lock a director, the situation appears far from ideal for Rajinikanth.
