Not Stardom, Credibility Matters!

Times have changed after the COVID pandemic. People have become so critical about films. That’s why there are no averages. We only have hits or flops these days. So, we are seeing films tank as soon as the talk is divided.

Earlier, star power alone often guaranteed strong openings regardless of content, but recent trends show that even big stardom is not enough. Several high-profile films have failed, proving that content and audience response matter more than ever.

But then, Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit proved otherwise as it opened to a mixed response. For any other actor, the movie would have tanked in the first weekend itself. But Dacoit surprised with steady collections over the weekdays too.

Definitely, the movie content is decent but more than that the credibility Sesh earned over the years is working its magic. Dacoit’s result may end up anywhere from here but it is an interesting test case in times like this. Audience have given a privilege to the actor that no other star has received in recent times.

It is important for actors to give the audience the impression that they are sincere, hardworking and take their craft seriously. Also, they should ensure they try to deliver quality content. Sesh did exactly that and it is showing results.

Also, Sesh’s popularity is confined to the urban pockets or the Multiplex audience in the cinema language. He needs to expand his base and market. Dacoit would have done that if it received unanimous talk.

Usually, the trade rates stardom higher than these actors who carefully handcraft their films. But the trend is clearly changing and sooner or later, the credibility will slowly transform into stardom.

However, the credibility, sometimes, is also a curse. The bar of expectations is too high for actors like Sesh and there is no room for deviation. Sesh has to keep all this in mind for his G2.
