Dhurandhar 2 is all set to take its action-packed spectacle global, with a theatrical release planned across Japan on July 10, 2026. The big question now, can it recreate the magic that only a handful of Indian films have achieved in the Japanese market?
Over the years, very few Indian blockbusters like RRR and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion have struck a chord with Japanese audiences, turning into massive successes. On the other hand, several recent big-ticket films such as Devara, Kalki 2898 AD, and Pushpa 2: The Rule failed to make a significant impact despite strong performances in India.
What works in Japan often goes beyond scale, it’s about emotional connection, storytelling style, and novelty. In that sense, Dhurandhar 2 enters as an interesting contender, especially if it offers a fresh genre experience compared to typical Indian commercial cinema.
Trade circles believe that if the film manages to click with local sensibilities and builds word-of-mouth, it could surprise at the Japanese box office. However, breaking into that market is never easy.
All eyes are now on whether Dhurandhar 2 can create its own success story in Japan or follow the recent trend of underperformance. Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and Madhavan played key roles in this biggie directed by Aditya Dhar.
