With just three days left for release, the silence from the makers of Drishyam 3 in the Telugu market is becoming a serious talking point. Despite releasing the Telugu trailer and opening bookings, the team has not conducted a single press meet, promotional event, or media interaction in Telugu states.
That lack of visibility could turn into a costly mistake. The Telugu audience has always shown strong support for content-driven thrillers, and the first two Drishyam films became hugely popular mainly because of Venkatesh Daggubati’s remakes.
His presence helped the franchise connect deeply with family audiences and mass viewers alike. However, this time things are different. Since Venkatesh is not remaking the third installment, the original version now carries the full responsibility of pulling audiences in on its own.
At the same time, Karuppu is enjoying decent buzz in Telugu states, especially in major centers, largely due to Suriya’s strong popularity and active reach among Telugu moviegoers. Compared to that, Drishyam 3’s promotional strategy appears too passive.
Mohanlal still enjoys immense respect among Telugu audiences, but goodwill alone may not be enough in today’s competitive market. Even a small promotional push could create stronger awareness and improve the film’s opening prospects significantly. Jeetu Joseph directs the film.
