Peddi Trailer Puts Spotlight On Two Names

Ram Charan’s Peddi has been making a lot of positive waves because of the chartbuster songs, scintillating teasers and intriguing character posters. Many expected that director Buchi Babu would augment the hype a notch bigger with the much anticipated trailer. However, the trailer glimpse didn’t cut the mustard on a few crucial aspects.

While Ram Charan’s domineering screen presence and versatility stood out as the driving factors for the trailer, which is packed with drama and emotions, the biggest disappointments came in the form of the background score and editing. Due to the lackluster output in both these crucial departments, the trailer didn’t reach its truest potential and fell short of the high expectations.

With AR Rahman on board, the expectations are so high on the background score. Given that the film has a sports backdrop and village milieu with loads drama, ARR is expected to deliver a pulsating orchestration that would elevate Ram Charan’s energy and Buchi Babu’s ambitious canvas. Both songs unveiled so far turned out to be outright bangers.

Unfortunately, the BGM rendered by ARR didn’t match the intensity of the scenes in the trailer and failed to create the much needed impact.

Another drawback for the trailer is undoubtedly the editing work, reportedly handled by Vijay Vardhan K for the trailer cut. Instead of keeping the audience engaged and flowing with the emotions, the cut felt quite flat with a routine sequence of shots. Meanwhile, film editor Navin Nooli, known as one of the most reliable technicians for big-ticket films today, is expected to deliver much better impact in the final film.

Even the colour grading choosen by cinematographer Ratnavelu for some shots in the trailer also didn’t seem to be much gritty that matches the overall set-up of the story.

Though Ram Charan’s raw energy and power packed dialogue delivery keeps the viewers hooked, the trailer didn’t score a sixer as expected by many because of these liabilities. Now, it all depends on how well they deliver the final output for the full duration of the movie.
