Can Suriya Really Replace Vijay in Kollywood?

Superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are legendary actors who competed with each other and remained in the top place. In the next generation, Vijay and Ajith competed with each other for the top place.

Actors like Suriya, Vikram, and Dhanush later emerged but Suriya alone was able to give a tough fight to Vijay and Ajith to enter the A league. With Ajith not concerned about the number game and with Vijay entering the politics, who could be the next potential top star of Kollywood remains a suspense.

In such a scenario, the fingers obviously point towards Suriya and his latest film Karuppu’s success defines the same. With mixed talk and multiple delays behind the project, Karuppu still managed to be the top film at the box office across multiple states.

When Suriya can achieve this during this dry season, a proper potboiler can automatically elevate his status to the Superstar of Tamil cinema.

Anyhow, the stalwarts like Rajini and Kamal will fight in a different league altogether and can’t be brought to this race. Actors like Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan, Vikram, and Pradeep Ranganathan also have the potential, but they are uncertain in this box office game because of the ups and downs, as it is also reflecting on their market value. Despite flops, Suriya’s market value only remains unchanged.

For Suriya to occupy the top spot, he will have to change his script selections. To become that suriya should change his script selection. Also, Suriya must be bold in terms of what he picks and should also be able to take stands against the government if possible.

Vijay has done the same with films like Sarkar, Mersal, Master, Kaithi and Jana Nayagan. Suriya should also go bold to get that strong base even among anti-fans.

Having said and done, this is the right time for Suriya to introspect and change the way he is picking up the subjects. Up next, Suriya has Viswanath & Sons which is his first bilingual in Telugu and Tamil. We have to see if the film works for him at the box office.
