The first glimpse of NTR’s much awaited action saga Dragon, unveiled at the stroke of midnight, gave an adrenaline high despite Prashanth Neel’s familiar template because of the awe inspiring characters and the gripping narrative set in the backdrop of opium wars.
While NTR’s violent and beast-like character with his menacing voiceover is undoubtedly the biggest high point of the entire video, Neel’s larger-than-life canvas and his impeccable world building have once again piqued the curiosity of the viewers and triggered a huge discussion on the film’s storyline.
In what could be an shocking revelation which will make audiences hanker for more, Neel himself opened up about the core emotion in Dragon during his latest media interaction which is currently the talking point everywhere. In the interview, Neel opened up for the first time about the NTR starrer after its launch.
The Salaar director informed that Dragon is going to be one of most patriotic movies of Indian cinema. He quips that the visuals shown in the glimpse are just a part of the action spectacle, but the real drama revolves around the patriotic setting which drives the narrative forward. However, he refused to talk any further about the story.
Talking about NTR’s role, Neel said it is one of the darkest character he had ever written for his lead protagonist. “It took me three years to write the story of Dragon. I have taken it very seriously. We have cast the most expensive villain in the history of Indian cinema. That’s how we’re looking at it. He (NTR) knows the character he is playing, and we did not want to hide the fact”, he answered.
Neel’s big statements have sent NTR’s fans into a tizzy and the impact created by the birthday teaser has now instantly doubled and also shot the expectations on the film a notch higher. All his earlier films were set in post-apocalyptic noir setup with a godlike character for the lead actor. But, Dragon seems to be much bigger in terms of his vision and execution.
If Neel manages to serve a full-throttle patriotic mass feast like Dhurandhar, box office will witness an absolute mayhem without any doubt.
