Drishyam 3 is gearing up for a grand release tomorrow. Georgekutty is coming back to the big screen after almost 5 years. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the third part will give answers to some unanswered questions.
Additionally, the film will also deal with the emotional and vulnerable side of Georgekutty, played by Mohanlal. Meanwhile, let us take a quick look at the recaps of both earlier parts.
In the first part, cable TV operator Georgekutty’s peaceful life is upended when his wife and daughter accidentally kill the son of a ruthless Inspector General who was blackmailing them.
Knowing the police will show no mercy, Georgekutty uses knowledge gained from watching thousands of movies to orchestrate a flawless cover-up. Despite brutal police interrogation, the family sticks to the script, culminating in the legendary reveal that Georgekutty buried the victim’s body right beneath the foundation of the newly constructed local police station.
Drishyam 2 picks up six years later, with Georgekutty now a wealthy theater owner, yet his family remains deeply traumatized by the secret. The police, refusing to let the case go, have been secretly spying on them and finally catch a break when a witness comes forward, placing Georgekutty at the police station on the night of the burial.
The police unearth the skeleton and arrest him, but Georgekutty proves he is still steps ahead of the law. He had spent years preparing for this exact day by swapping the victim’s skeleton at the forensic lab with the help of a graveyard watchman, and had even published a crime novel mirroring the murder to legally claim the police were framing him, ultimately beating the system once again to keep his family safe.
Now, the third part is expected to run through the same crime but is expected to be unfolded differently altogether. The Telugu audiences had witnessed the remake version for the first two parts earlier but this time, we will be able to watch the dubbed version of the original as Venkatesh reportedly turned down the offer to star in the remake.
