Even Mahesh Babu Couldn’t Escape Re-Release Curse

Superstar Mahesh Babu is the undisputed king of the box office, and there is also another credit to his track record. So far, most of the re-releases featuring Mahesh Babu have performed well at the box office.

It is infact his films Pokiri and Okkadu that marked a new trend in Telugu states. While many stars failed to pull crowds with re-releases, Mahesh’s films used to set records. However, Mahesh also had to taste disappointment with his recent re-release.

Currently, Mahesh Babu’s Athithi was released again and the reports say that the film did not pull reasonable crowds to theatres. Even during its first release, most of the fans felt that the film is not entertaining and had disappointed them.

Now, the result is the same. Despite the team taking care in producing a 4K output, the film could not make much noise except for a few main centers in Hyderabad.

Till now, everyone thought that Mahesh would continue this trend with success, but now, he too faces heat. However, the point to be discussed is the choice of films for re-release.

Had it been any other cult or blockbuster film, the success would have been inevitable. Even otherwise, Athithi is least talked about and least explored film in Mahesh’s career and hence, fans did not show any interest.
