Peddi Must Cash In This Weekend

Peddi has completed its first week and entered the crucial second week with decent momentum at the box office. The rural sports drama is racing towards a major box office milestone, but the coming weekend could play a defining role in determining how far it can eventually go.

After witnessing a noticeable drop from the first Tuesday, Peddi has managed to maintain respectable daily numbers. Holding around the Rs 15 crore mark on weekdays is not a bad sign, but the film now needs a strong weekend push to regain its earlier pace.

The second Saturday holiday factor comes as a timely boost. Along with Sunday, the film gets two important days to attract family audiences. More importantly, ticket price hikes in both Telugu states are set to end, which could improve footfalls from the beginning of next week.

While Peddi remains strong across several centres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, its performance outside the Telugu states has not matched expectations. The film is steady rather than sensational in many markets, making the domestic run even more important from here.

In overseas markets too, all movie passes are now enabled and standard ticket prices have returned. As Peddi failed to create the expected magic at the overseas box office, these passes and regular pricing could play a crucial role this weekend and may help bring a healthy jump in collections.

Trade circles believe normal ticket prices could work in the film’s favour. Family audiences have repeatedly shown hesitation towards premium pricing, and a return to regular rates may help increase occupancy levels in several regions.

Everything now comes down to this weekend. If Peddi can make the most of the next two days, the collections may witness another jump. The real test, however, begins on Monday when the film enters a new phase of its theatrical run with regular pricing across the board.
