Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s dream project Sing Geetham is gaining momentum, with an upward trend at the box office. The film’s success meet, held today, offered a fascinating glimpse into the decades-long journey behind its making.
Devi Sri Prasad spoke emotionally about his collaboration with Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, calling the filmmaker a living legend whose creative fire continues to burn brightly. DSP said he had always wanted to compose music for a film in which music itself becomes a powerful storytelling force, and Sing Geetham fulfilled that dream.
Anil Ravipudi highlighted Singeetham’s extraordinary consistency as a filmmaker. While most directors are remembered for one landmark film, Anil said nearly every movie in Singeetham’s filmography can be considered a milestone. He described Sing Geetham as a rare blend of humor, emotion, innovation, and heart.
The director recalled meeting Singeetham several years ago and being stunned by his energy and enthusiasm.
“During that meeting, Singeetham narrated the story to me and expressed his desire to find a producer. I recommended the project to numerous people because I strongly believed the story deserved to be made.
“This film feels like it was made not only out of Nag Ashwin’s love for Singeetham but also out of his immense respect for cinema itself. Hats off to Swapna Cinema and Vyjayanthi Movies for their support.”
Nag Ashwin explained that when he first heard the idea, he never questioned whether it would work commercially. Instead, he felt that if a filmmaker of Singeetham’s stature wanted to make a particular film, the team’s responsibility was simply to help make it happen.
He revealed that much of the screenplay development took place through lengthy video calls with Singeetham. Nag Ashwin also singled out DSP’s contribution, saying the composer elevated the film to another level.
“We gave Singeetham everything he needed. But if there’s one person who truly deserves to be called the director of this film, it’s DSP. The second pillar of direction on this project is Sankalp. Singeetham is 94 years old, while Sankalp is 24. This film possesses soul, depth, magic, contemporary energy, youthful spirit, and relatability because these two generations came together. That unique combination is what makes this film truly beautiful.”
Interestingly, the team unveiled the film’s trailer at the success meet, two days after its theatrical release.
