Obsession is Heading Towards a Historic Century in India

Obsession is quietly turning into one of the biggest horror sensations across the globe. Made on a surprisingly small budget of just 7 crore, this Hollywood horror film has shocked the trade with massive worldwide earnings and continues to dominate the box office.

From the very beginning the film started building strong momentum and soon crossed major milestones. Reports suggest it has already gone past the 1000 crore mark and even touched the 2000 crore range globally, making it one of the most profitable horror films ever made.

In India too Obsession is creating strong impact with steady collections. The film has already collected around 70 crore rupees in the country and is enjoying strong houseful shows in multiple regions, especially during weekends where occupancy remains solid.

With this performance, Obsession has now entered the list of highest grossing Hollywood horror films in India. It has already surpassed Final Destination Bloodlines and climbed to the second position in the Indian market for the genre.

Now only The Conjuring The Last Rites stands ahead with around 82 crore rupees in India. Trade circles believe Obsession still has enough momentum in its theatrical run to challenge even that record if the trend continues.

No wonder even if it crosses the 100 crore mark in India, it will not be a surprise given the kind of strong word of mouth and consistent audience pull it is generating. What makes this success even more striking is the return on investment, proving once again that content is king over scale and star power.
