Maa Inti Bangaraam Gets ‘Double Digit’ Opening

Double digit openings have become increasingly difficult for medium range heroes and heroines in the post lockdown era. With audiences preferring to wait for reviews and word of mouth before heading to theatres, strong openings are mostly limited to films led by top stars.

However, Samantha has managed to break that trend with Maa Inti Bangaram. Returning to the big screen after a long gap, the actress has made a solid comeback with a film that has struck a chord with family audiences right from its release.

The film carried good expectations before release and the team left no stone unturned in promotions. Samantha, Raj and director Nandini Reddy aggressively promoted the film across platforms, creating good buzz among the audience.

Despite few negatives, Positive talk and encouraging reviews from the very first show gave the film a major boost. More importantly, the family emotions in the film seem to have connected well, with women and family audiences turning up in large numbers across centres.

According to trade reports, Maa Inti Bangaram collected around Rs 13 to 15 crore gross on its opening day. Overseas markets, particularly North America, contributed significantly to the overall numbers and helped the film post an impressive start.

Another advantage for the makers is that the film has been released on their own in several key territories. Since the release business was done at reasonable levels, the film is now well positioned to emerge as a profitable venture if it maintains momentum over the weekend.

For now, everything appears to be going in the right direction. Advance bookings for Day 2 are encouraging and the weekend looks promising. If the current trend continues, the film could touch the Rs 50 crore mark soon, while Monday collections will determine how strongly it can sustain during the weekdays.
