Abhishek Nama’s Nagabandham, starring Virat Karrna, is one of the most ambitious films to emerge from Indian cinema this year. Ahead of its July 3 release, producers Kishore Annapureddy and Nishita Nagireddy of NIK Studios opened up about the passion, faith, and vision that shaped the project.
The producers revealed that filmmaking wasn’t their original profession. “After building a successful software company, we wanted to diversify into new industries. Cinema fascinated us because it combines creativity with business. When Ravinder Reddy introduced us to Abhishek Nama’s script, everything changed.”
According to them, the screenplay itself justified the massive investment. “The scale wasn’t created for the sake of grandeur. The story demanded it. Every stage of development increased our confidence, and eventually we committed more than 110 crore because we trusted the film completely.”
Despite making the movie with a one film old actor Virat Karrna in a pan-India spectacle, they never viewed it as a gamble. “We searched extensively before finalizing Virat. Once we met him, we knew he was the perfect choice. His commitment, transformation, and dedication have been exceptional.”
The producers praised director Abhishek Nama for carefully balancing practical filmmaking with visual effects. “One of our biggest challenges was deciding where to build massive sets and where to use VFX. Every ten minutes, audiences will witness something visually stunning. We wanted every frame to create wonder.”
Spirituality, they stated, remained central throughout production. “The Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple set has left everyone spellbound. Many visitors said it genuinely feels like visiting the actual temple. Experiences like these strengthened our belief that divine blessings have accompanied this journey.”
They affirm spirituality play a role in their personal lives as well. “Coming from outside the film industry and being able to produce a film of this scale feels like divine grace. Even during the ongoing Rath Yatra, despite heavy rains, the procession has continued successfully. Those videos have gone viral on social media.”
It has to be seen whether the movie will live up to all the hype surrounding it.
