Akhil Akkineni is finally back in the limelight as his new film, Lenin, has opened to decent response. Leaving aside the box office result of the film, which will be known in a few days, his performance is being lauded by many.
Right from his debut film, Akhil has mostly done soft roles, and this is the first time that he is playing a massy role and has had to impress at any cost. Playing a man from the Rayalaseema region and getting the slang right is one of the biggest tasks, and Akhil has got it right with his diction and looks.
One of the biggest highlights of his performance is that Akhil never goes overboard. Even though the film’s subject is massy, he does not shout from the rooftops or overact. His performance in the last twenty minutes is the life of the film, and Akhil gets full marks for carrying the film on his shoulders.
This is the first time that audiences have praised his work in a long time, and Akhil is overwhelmed by this reaction from the audience and the credit should go to director Murali Kishor for extracting a solid performance from him.
Not only Akhil but also Bhagyashri delivers an impressive performance. Now that he has finally impressed many, it remains to be seen how he handles his career and what kind of films he will choose from here on.
