Akhil Needs a Big Boost in the Overseas Market

Akhil Akkineni finally scored a big success with the new film Lenin. After working across multiple genres, he finally hit with the regular, formulaic commercial mass actioner.

The latest success boosted Akhil’s confidence, and he is now going to be unstoppable in keeping the momentum going forward. However, the critics opine that achieving success is a cause for relief, but he has to expand his market, which is a big challenge for him.

Akhil Akkineni debuted with the commercial entertainer Akhil, but it was too much to handle at the time. Later, he worked in the romantic genre, and his last film was also an action drama. But Akhil believed in the commercial action drama Lenin, which is packed very well.

Since this genre brought him a big success, the usual tendency is to try more films in the same genre, but the audiences would expect variations from Akhil.

Even with Lenin, the film performed so well in the domestic market but not overseas, especially in North America. It is partially because of the genre. Even though $800k is not a small number, it could have been bigger considering the run it gets in India.

If not for the genre, the market value of Akhil also contributes to this. Now that Lenin has become a hit, his market will surely expand, but it will sustain only if he consistently delivers good results, irrespective of the genre.

Over time, similar genres could bring good results for Akhil overseas, but what is important now for him is not to get carried away by the genre success but to try different genres, with story being the driving factor. Akhil learned his lessons the toughest way, and we are sure that his moves would reflect his learnings. Let us see what Akhil will take up next.
