Ramayana Walking On A Sword With Overseas Release?

The countdown for the grand release of Ranbir Kapoor’s epic mythology ‘Ramayana’ has kicked off last week with the release of an extravagant four minute trailer in multiple languages.

As the Nitesh Tiwari directional is set for a worldwide release, the team has unveiled the English version of the trailer recently. Interestingly, the English trailer has revealed the release date as November 6th, which is two days before the Diwali festival. This has sparked a wide debate among trade circles and moviegoers.

The makers have quickly cleared the confusion and said that the film will release earlier in overseas markets because of practical reasons related to distribution and weekend schedules. The team believes this will help the movie reach global audiences in a better way without affecting its overall release plans.

As confirmed earlier, the film will hit the screens all over India on Diwali festival which falls on November 8th. However, it will be screened earlier on November 6th in Overseas to cash in on the weekend.

Though this is a clever strategy, it will have some challenges that cannot be ignored. Piracy has become much faster than before in the current era because of increased dependence on social media. Even a small leak can spread across social media and messaging platforms within minutes.

For a film carrying huge expectations, this can have a direct impact on the audience’s experience. The team has already faced a similar issue during the trailer launch. Videos from special screenings were leaked online in poor quality. Those clips did not represent the actual visuals but still created a wrong impression among many viewers.

Luckily, the trailer has offset the negative perception and created a good impact despite few complaints regarding visuals. Still, the makers need to be extra careful. Strong and quick action against leaks will be important as Indian market is equally crucial for a film like Ramayana.

Moreover, the director revealed that the first part would end in a cliffhanger and leave the viewers hanker for the release of the second part. This has already become a big talking point among audiences as they are eager to see how the climax unfolds even though it is a known story.

So, any leaks about such suspense elements after the overseas release likely to spoil the experience of moviegoers back in India.
