Venky Atluri Turning As New-Age Trivikram!

Venky Atluri seems to be following the footsteps of Trivikram. Venky Atluri’s last three movies – Sir (Vaathi), Lucky Baskhar and Vishwanath And Sons, tell us a different picture. The actor-turned-director Venky Atluri has transformed himself, his writing and his films. He is picking stories that have wider reach and attracting family audiences as well as youth. Venky’s latest release VAS shows his maturity as a filmmaker. The way he picked a sensible topic and handled it in a very mature way conveys a lot.

The plot of a relationship between an elderly man and a young woman and how their age gap is beautifully churned into a clean, family entertainer. Venky deserves all the praise for touching on the concepts which are quite sensible and narrating them in a very mature and balanced manner. He scored in handling and narrating a sensible topic in a very elegant manner and without making it uncomfortable to watch.

Scenes between Suriya and Mamitha, Radhika and Mamitha, and the kitchen scene involving Suriya are spot on. There is a sequence where Suriya’s character checks his mother’s phone and realises that her entire call list has only his name. This sequence shows that the mother’s life entirely revolves around her son.  Venky Atluri deserves to be appreciated for coming up with many such heartwarming sequences that talk about human relationships and bindings.

Especially, VAS has some of the finest and most sensible dialogues that are heart-touching. Considering that Trivikram is known for his witty dialogues, one-liners perfectly placed in family entertainers and is even revered as the “Wizard of Words”, Venky is on his path to win hearts with his dialogues and mature writing.

It clearly looks like Venky Atluri is slowly transforming into a new-age Trivikram Srinivas and aims to make clean entertainers catering to families and youth, ala Trivikram’s Attarintiki Daaredi and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, both in terms of scale and content and wider reach. This is indeed challenging. And Venky is becoming successful in this.
