Every hero goes through a bad phase, but the way they handle it makes the real difference. In recent times, we have seen some heroes change their image after consecutive flops, become extra soft and grounded, and even depend heavily on PR strategies. Some worked, some did not. But Ravi Teja has always been different.
Whether the film is a hit or a flop, his attitude and energy remain the same. He never tries too hard to change himself just to impress the audience. That stubbornness is probably one of the biggest reasons why the Mass Maharaja has stayed relevant for so long.
At 58, Ravi Teja still carries the same energy that many young heroes struggle to maintain. His acting, dialogue delivery, fights and especially his comedy timing continue to feel extremely fresh. There is absolutely no shortage of energy when he enters the screen.
He simply could not find the right stories consistently. Even when some interesting subjects came his way, the directors failed to extract the full potential and present them in the most effective way.
Irumudi has now changed that situation completely. The film seems to have finally found the right combination for Ravi Teja, with his mass image, family emotions, action and entertainment coming together perfectly. The response from the audience is showing exactly what happens when the right story reaches the right hero.
What makes this comeback even more special is that Ravi Teja never tried to create sympathy around his failures. He never stopped being himself or changed his personality because a few films did not work. Yesterday the failure was big, and today the success is equally big, but the man remains the same.
That is something worth appreciating. Success can make anyone look confident, but continuing with the same confidence during failures is not easy. Ravi Teja has done exactly that, and Irumudi is now giving him the kind of theatrical reception he has been waiting for.
Hopefully, this success will also make Ravi Teja more careful about his future choices. He still has the energy, screen presence and mass following to deliver big blockbusters. All he needs is the right content and a director who knows exactly how to use the Mass Maharaja.
