At a time when big-budget films are struggling to sustain momentum, a small devotional drama has emerged as the surprise hit of the season. Hanuman Ansh, based on the life of Neem Karoli Baba, has staged a remarkable box-office turnaround after a slow start.
The film collected just around Rs 1.30 crore net in its first two weeks and was even reduced to a handful of screens in several circuits. However, strong word of mouth completely changed its fortunes.
Exhibitors began increasing shows across the country as audience demand surged. The film’s screen count reportedly jumped from around 40 screens in week two to nearly 400 screens in week three.
The real twist came in week three as the film has now crossed Rs 8 crore net and continues to grow despite the arrival of big releases like Toxic. Trade reports indicate that areas like Delhi, UP, Punjab, and Mumbai have emerged as its strongest markets.
What makes this achievement even more impressive is the film’s modest budget. Having already recovered its costs, Hanuman Ansh is firmly in the profit zone and is now heading towards one of the biggest sleeper hits of 2026.
