What’s Wrong With Netflix And Telugu Directors?

The teaser of Tamil film ‘Paava Kadhaigal’ is surely riveting as Netflix is getting ready to stream it very soon. And the trailer is actually giving multiple thoughts to Telugu audiences who are actually worried about the no-presence of Telugu filmmakers on the streaming platform.

A look at Paava Kadhaigal, which has four directors including Gautham Menon, Vetri Maaran, Sudha Kongara & Vignesh Shivan directing four stories in this anthology drama, definitely gives us a feeler as to why Telugu directors are unable to come up with such unions.

Neither star Telugu directors nor any newcomers are carving intriguing Telugu content that could be showcased on Netflix, while their Bollywood and Tamil counterparts are actually skyrocketing their game with versatile stories.

Actually, the Telugu version of Lust Stories was carved by filmmakers including Nandini Reddy, Prashant Varma and Sankalp Reddy, but the film is not seeing the light of the day for unknown reasons.

And then, many producers and star heroes are said to have pitched their ideas to Netflix, but none of them actually excited the OTT team. Many wonder where is Telugu content heading when it comes to proving mettle on OTT area.

Though the OTT giant is ready to offer huge budgets for Telugu makers, none of them is said to be coming up with fresh and engaging ideas that could be marketed across all languages in India either with dubbed tracks or sub-titles.

While the consumption of Netflix is very high among Telugu audiences itself, definitely binge-worthy Telugu web series and web films will be the first go for them if at all our makers could come up with something catchy.
