Karthi’s Sardar 2 is gearing up to take the franchise forward with a bigger scale, more action, and a fresh social message. At the film’s Hyderabad pre-release event, the team spoke extensively about what audiences can expect from the sequel.
SJ Suryah believes the sequel will surpass the entertainment quotient of its predecessor. “Sardar was already a massive blockbuster in Telugu, and it received an excellent response on OTT as well. Sardar 2 will surely give double the excitement. The sequel indeed combines all the ingredients of a commercial entertainer with meaningful content. Compared to Sardar, Sardar 2 has extraordinary entertainment, fights, and strong content.”
He was particularly appreciative of director PS Mithran’s approach to storytelling. “Mithran is a fantastic director. The stories he thinks about, the short divisions he gives, the look, and the content he shoots—it is very entertaining, and it also carries a message. Global warming is one of the central concerns addressed in Sardar 2.”
Adivi Sesh stated that he likes Karthi a lot. He described Sardar as one of the most fun spy masala entertainers and recalled how enthusiastically he reacted while watching it in theatres. Sesh is particularly excited about the sequel’s emotional component. “I love seeing the whole father angle; I think it is going to be extraordinary,” he said, adding, “I know this movie is going to rock.”
Karthi echoed the importance of the franchise while describing Sardar 2 as a significant milestone in his career. “Sardar has got a big fan base here. Sardar 2 is definitely a very important movie in my career. Getting a spy character like this is my good fortune. Such characters are rarely recognised despite performing highly specialised and precise work.”
The actor also acknowledged the exceptional reception the first film received in the Telugu market. “Whenever I come to Hyderabad, Telugu people have a huge following for that movie because it’s on Aha, and people have re-watched it so many times,” he said.
Karthi believes the sequel has achieved the scale he and his team wanted to see in Indian cinema. “When we watch so many English movies, we get a feeling: ‘Can’t we make such action, such stylish movies?’ All of that is fulfilled in this film,” he said.
He credited Mithran, George Williams, and Sam CS for elevating the project and also thanked the producers for making such an ambitious film possible.
The pre-release event was also graced by Boyapati Sreenu, Sailesh Kolanu, and Kalyan Shankar.
