From 90s to Epic: Aditya Haasan Faces Mixed Reactions!

After the blockbuster success of 90’s – A Middle Class Biopic, director Aditya Hasan earned a strong following among family audiences. Naturally, expectations were high for his theatrical debut, Epic. However, the film has received a mixed response, with many expressing disappointment over its execution.

While several audiences appreciated the film’s honest approach and praised Aditya’s dialogue writing, the overall narration has come under criticism. Many felt the second half became repetitive and slow, testing the audience’s patience.

The character arcs, especially those of the lead pair, have also been questioned, with some viewers finding their behavior difficult to connect with. Interestingly, the same concerns were recently discussed by producer Naga Vamsi in an interview.

His observations about the film’s shortcomings are now being pointed out by critics and moviegoers alike. A section of the audience believes that the success of 90’s may have made Aditya overly confident.

While his intention to tell a personal story has been appreciated, some viewers felt the film leaned more towards realism in unconventional way than conventional cinematic storytelling. At the same time, Epic has also received support from a section of the audience.

At the box office, the film’s performance currently appears average. It remains to be seen whether Anand Deverakonda and Vaoshnavi Chaitanya’s film holds steady over the weekend and improves its prospects.
