Jailer 2 Telugu Rights: Almost Coolie Price, Who Will Dare?

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is already creating strong buzz in the trade circles ahead of its October 15 release. The latest discussion is about the film’s Telugu theatrical rights, which are expected to fetch a huge price.

Going into details, Sun Pictures has quoted Rs 55 crore plus GST for the Telugu rights. As per sources, Naga Vamsi has offered around Rs 45 crore plus GST, leaving a significant gap between the asking and offered prices.

What makes the situation interesting is that Coolie sold its Telugu rights for 52 crore. Despite the Lokesh Kanagaraj film not meeting expectations, Jailer 2 continues to enjoy strong demand from buyers.

The success of Jailer is the biggest reason behind the confidence surrounding the sequel. The Rajinikanth starrer emerged as a blockbuster and built a strong market in the Telugu states, giving distributors hope that the second installment will repeat the feat.

But the movie faced multiple delays because of the cameo mess, as the role went from Balakrishna to multiple stars before finally being wrapped up with Hrithik Roshan. There were also wild rumours about multiple reshoots, which damaged the buzz to some extent. However, the sequel factor is working strongly in the film’s favour.

With the release date approaching, all eyes are now on who will finally bag the Telugu rights and pay the massive price being quoted. Once locked, the deal is expected to be one of the biggest talking points in South India.
