A very rare combo has been locked in Bollywood. Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and Saiyyara director Mohit Suri have joined hands for an intense Hindi drama. This news stunned everyone, as RGV is known for his gangster films and Mohit for love stories.
Post the announcement, RGV has made a bold statement. He says the project will be much larger in scale than Dhurandhar while also carrying strong emotional depth. The film is based on a crucial period in Mumbai’s underworld history.
RGV reveals that the story is set in the Mumbai underworld during the split between noted gangsters Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan. It revolves around a key figure named Sautya and will also showcase major developments that took place after the 1993 serial blasts.
While RGV has written the script, he says Mohit took the script to a completely different level and expanded it beyond what he had initially imagined. To explain the unique combination, RGV used an interesting comparison, saying what would happen if Coppola directed Jaws or Spielberg directed Godfather.
With Mohit Suri directing and RGV backing the story, expectations are already rising. If RGV’s claims are anything to go by, this could emerge as one of the most ambitious crime dramas in recent years, potentially bigger in scope than Dhurandhar. Stay tuned for more.
