First ever Tamil anthology original on Netflix, Paava Kadhaigal, is out on the streaming platform and making ripples already. Though the content is sometimes slow and routine, it’s pretty exciting as a total setup we must say. And audiences are so amused by the title sequence alone of this 4-part series.
Paava Kadhaigal, which has four directors including Gautham Menon, Vetri Maaran, Sudha Kongara & Vignesh Shivan, has a beautifully 2D animated title sequence.
It showcases a baby girl, her growth, the challenges she faces while growing up, her love story, marriage, giving birth to the baby and else. This full circle is presented in a beautiful way by the animators where the color ‘red’ dominates every frame by transforming itself into various things.
The four stories are not told in parallel here, but they are presented as four different episodes. And all the four episodes have the same animated sequence played as the intro with only titles (names) changed. And watching the names of such talented directors associated with these beautiful stories is really interesting.
While Sudha’s story deals with a girl falling in love with another caste boy, Gautham Menon directed Simran and the baby girl episode, Vetrimaaran crafted Sai Pallavi and Prakash Raj’s story, while Vignesh Shivan created the lesbian story of Anjali and Kalki Koechlin.
