A ramp walk has reportedly opened a completely unexpected door for a group of former women Maoists from Chhattisgarh.
The women, who have now returned to normal life, took part in a fashion show held in August to mark National Handloom Day. Their ramp walk videos later went viral on social media and reportedly caught the attention of Bollywood filmmakers.
According to reports, a film team is planning to make a movie based on the lives of Maoists and is considering these former women cadres for important roles. The makers reportedly feel that their real-life experience could bring more authenticity to the characters.
The women may also receive acting training before the shooting begins. If the plans materialise, this would be a completely different chapter in their lives after leaving the Maoist movement.
Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai has also welcomed the development. He said such opportunities can help former Maoists who have chosen to leave violence behind and return to mainstream society.
From once being part of the Maoist movement to walking a fashion ramp and now reportedly getting a Bollywood opportunity, their journey has taken an unexpected turn.
