Producer Dheeraj Mogilineni, who is known for making films in small budgets, has made a startling revelation. Urging the state governments to stop issuing the GOs of Ticket Price hikes, Dheeraj reasoned why it would be a death knell to small cinema.
Dheeraj said higher the ticket price for a big budget film, theatres in turn get higher share or rent accordingly. If that is the case, the majority of theatres would be interested in screening only such big-budget films as their margins increase. With this, small films wouldn’t get theatres to screen the films.
Dheeraj said there could be 1 or 2 exceptions like SS Rajamouli’s films which are made with massive budgets on a large scale. However, he says this practice of hiking ticket prices often for almost all the films would only impact the small films. Dheeraj said small films should also get visibility and it will only happen if ticket prices are not hiked.
Meanwhile, Dheeraj stated that hiking ticket prices is of no use to anyone. He said it is a burden to film goers as well. Dheeraj urged the governments who are keen to encourage films and filmmakers to consider the plight of the small-budget films and refrain from issuing the GOs.
Dheeraj’s comments are in complete contrast with the group of some big filmmakers who have put proposals to the governments to issue GOs for the hike of ticket prices. It is a completely contradictory statement from Dheeraj and it needs to be seen what will be the reactions of the big filmmakers group.
