‘RRR Goes Global On Netflix, There’s Nothing Wrong With That’

Renowned filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who has been expanding the base with each passing film, is all set to go the extra mile with his upcoming Varanasi. Rajamouli wants Varanasi to go a top notch.

Jakkanna stated that many audiences, outside India, have discovered RRR on Netflix. Admitting that there is nothing wrong with that, Rajamouli stated that he wants his next Varanasi to have a massive worldwide theatrical release. Jakkanna is planning to release Varanasi in maximum theatres and in maximum number of languages.

He wants to achieve his vision of Global Cinema with Varanasi. Speaking in Brazil, Rajamouli said, “As a filmmaker I want my audience to experience my film on the big screen. My biggest ambition for Varanasi is to have a grand theatrical release worldwide.”

It can be noted that Rajamouli achieved no less feat with RRR and the film even bagged an Oscar for the Best Original Song. The film bagged several international awards including Best Director Award at the New York Film Critics Circle. Yet, Rajamouli is of the opinion that Varanasi could still do much bigger and better if it gets wider release.

This is certainly great news for Superstar Mahesh Babu’s fans who have been waiting for Varanasi with a bated breath. The film, also starring Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, is slated for April 7, 2027.
