Suriya’s Master Plan to Win Back the Tollywood Market

Actor Suriya seems to have a clear plan to regain his lost market in Telugu cinema. The Tamil star who once enjoyed a huge fan following in Telugu states is now making several attempts to strengthen his position again. His recent film choices and upcoming projects suggest that he is seriously focusing on the Telugu audience.

Interestingly Suriya has been busy with back to back releases. In 2026, he had three films lined up: Karuppu, Vishwanath & Sons and Scene. Apart from these films, he is also working on his upcoming project Suriya 48.

Suriya 48 brings him back together with director T.J. Gnanavel, who earlier worked with him on the critically acclaimed film Jai Bhim. Suriya is reportedly playing a doctor in this social drama.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that a Telugu director recently approached Suriya and narrated a full length comedy entertainer. This has created interest among Telugu movie lovers. Interestingly Vishwanath & Sons, directed by Telugu filmmaker Venky Atluri has given Suriya another opportunity to connect with Telugu audiences recently.

There was a time when Suriya enjoyed a strong market in Telugu states. His films received good attention and he had a special place among Telugu movie lovers. But his market has gradually become weaker over the years.

Now, he seems to understand the importance of getting back-to-back successes in Telugu. Working with Telugu directors could be a smart move because they understand the tastes and expectations of local audiences.

If Suriya scores another successful film with a Telugu director then it could help him rebuild his market in the two Telugu states. Rather than depending only on his Tamil film releases, he looks like checking out opportunities that can bring him closer to Telugu audiences. So Suriya’s next big plan is not only about making more films but also about winning back the Telugu market he once enjoyed.
