Things are getting heated up in the film fraternity ahead of Movie Artists Association (MAA) elections. Already, Prakash Raj and Manchu Vishnu confirmed their contention for the presidential post. Jeevitha Rajashekhar and Hema are also in the race. Now, veteran actor CVL Narasimha Rao has joined the list and announced that he will be contesting as well. He brought up the separate status for Telangana artists in his manifesto.
“I will be contesting for the president’s position in the upcoming MAA elections. I will be working for the cause of Telangana artists. Even poor and small artists of Andhra Pradesh are suffering a lot in the industry. I will be helping them as well. One of the major points in my manifesto is supporting local artists. Around 10 years ago, we have unanimously decided to cast only two non-local actors apart from the heroine. But that rule is not being followed now which is affecting our Telugu artists. I will make sure to implement it on a strict note.”
“Right now, there are different language boards, Film Development Corporations, and Cinematography Ministries for both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Thus, even MAA should be split based on the background of its members. Elections should be held for both departments,” added CVL.
Meanwhile, CVL got support from actress-turned-politician Vijayashanti. She said that the issues raised by CVL Narasimha Rao are genuine and he should be supported. Even though she is not a member of MAA, Vijayashanti extended her support to CVL as an artist.
