Varun Tej’s boxing film Ghani has been in news for various reasons. The film directed by debutante Kiran Korrapati has generated decent buzz. The latest we hear is that the film’s digital rights and the satellite rights (both Telugu and Hindi dubbed) have been sold. They have fetched a fancy 23 Crore to the makers.
However, here is the catch. Ghani is said to be an over-budgeted film. The film is being made with a budget of about Rs 42 Crore. The makers are expecting another Rs 20 Crore for the film’s theatrical rights.
It is not easy to get a good deal for theatrical rights since theatrical business of all films have been badly affected due to Covid. If theatres are reopened and business gets on track, Ghani may be bailed out. Let’s hope for the best.
