Fact Check : First Human Bird Flu Case in AP?

The alarming number of deaths of chickens has been absolutely shaking up the poultry industry in Andhra Pradesh over the last couple of weeks. To make matters worse, news broke out today that the first case of human contraction of the bird flu virus was officially recorded which led to more panic.

However, the official clarification on this matter is a reassuring one as it has been confirmed that the news about human contraction of bird flu virus is a false alarm.

Eluru Collector, Vetri Selvi briefed the media on this matter today and clarified “The propaganda being spread by some that a man in Eluru has contracted bird flu is completely false. Do not believe what anyone says or the propaganda on social media regarding bird flu. The government has taken all the necessary steps regarding the infected chickens. No one should panic in this matter.”

With officials clarifying that there is no registered case of bird flu amongst humans till now, this reassurance could ease the nerves a bit. Also, it confirms that the news about a man in Eluru contracting the virus is a false propaganda.

But caution is to be exercised on this matter, though the transmission of bird flu amongst humans is extremely rare. But if contracted, the symptoms could be fatal.
